Alison Lamont School Of Dance - Rules |
|
The studio will be open at 3:55 p.m. daily and will close immediately after the last class of the day. It would be appreciated, parents, if you could be prompt in picking up your children if they are in the last class of the evening.
DANCE RULES:
- All street shoes and boots are to be removed at the front entrance. PUT THEM ON THE RACKS!! This includes parents!! If you come up the stairs with wet footwear it's not fair to the person who comes up after you in sock feet!! They have to step in your mess!!
- Please be on time, dressed and ready to go.
- Wear dance shoes (no bare feet) for safety reasons.
- Students are expected to behave in a respectful and attentive manner. A disruptive student will be asked to leave for a short period of time. (This does not pertain to very young children as we all know - they have their days!!)
- All hair must be neat, tidy and out of your eyes, in a pony tail or a bun (this includes jazz students). Before you come into the class room.
- No gum or jewellery in class.
- Ballet students must wear ballet attire - no t-shirts over bodysuits - no cut off tights - (this includes seniors). Dance shorts (black or navy blue) are allowed for Grade 3 ballet and up.
- No big baggy sweatshirts or t-shirts of any kind (except hip hop) - it is impossible to correct your body if I can't see it. NOTE: In some classes (hip hop, adult classes & stretch) dress codes are a little more relaxed. Discuss with your teacher what is expected then you will know what is appropriate.
- No Cleavage - cleavage is not appropriate in any dance class at the ALSD.
- Parents please make sure your pre-schoolers have gone to the washroom before class.
- * Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each class. I would like a note from parents or a call explaining why a class is missed. If you miss too many you unfairly slow down the rest of the class. This is especially important for students entered in competition classes. If too many classes are missed - even for a good reason - you still slow down the progress of the class - especially during choreography and rehearsals. Each individual situation will be assessed, but more than 2 classes is reason for concern in some instances.
STUDIO RULES:
- * * *No food or drink of any kind, (this includes juice and pop) allowed anywhere except in the kitchen area provided. Please throw all garbage out and clean up after yourself, that means wipe the table and sweep the floor if necessary. No water bottles in the dance studios. If the teacher thinks you need a water break - she will allow you to leave.
- Keep dressing room clean and tidy. No food or drink in dressing room. NO SLURPIES - they are never finished and are thrown half-full into the garbage and melt, making a big, wet mess at the bottom of the pail.
- NO POPCORN!!! NO POPCORN!!! NO POPCORN!!! NO POPCORN!!!
- Both washrooms are unisex.
- Please keep noise down while you are waiting out of courtesy for the businesses downstairs.
- No playing tag, shutting out lights, slamming doors or other horse play. Behave while you are waiting for class or you will not be allowed to wait at the studio between classes.
- No Smoking in or around the Studio.
- For safety reasons, all students must wait upstairs for their ride to pick them up.
- No bad language anywhere in the studio. A one week suspension will occur if I hear any.
- Parents: Please make a point of coming into the studio on a regular basis to read the bulletin board and to make sure you have a current copy of various newsletters. I do my best to ensure that you stay informed, but you must take some responsibility to make sure you are getting the newsletter.
- No cell phones in class
- Congratulations, you read the entire set of rules. Thank you.
